Our Donor Philosophy

Donors are the lifeline of Memory Matters. We rely on donations to support broad brain health education for all and to care for families living with cognitive impairment at our Memory Care Center and at several community-based sites.

To keep our services as affordable as possible, only 35% of our annual budget is covered by program fees. The remainder is contributed by individuals, corporations, special events, and grantmakers.

Our Philosophy:

As an organization, Memory Matters’ Fundraising Philosophy guides our efforts to obtain support for our Mission. We demonstrate our passion for Memory Matters through our actions:

  • We make personal commitments before asking others
  • We are transparent about our needs
  • We regularly share our effectiveness
  • We respect and thank all supporters
  • We utilize gifts wisely and as intended
  • We cultivate corporate supporters and avoid exclusive relationships

Memory Matters has been named an Angel Charity by South Carolina, and is Gold Level on GuideStar. Every donation is valued, and we acknowledge all gifts by letter. Types of donations we gratefully receive are:

  • Individual:  Gifts of any amount
  • Memorials: Gifts in honor of, tribute to or in memory of a loved one
  • Bequests:  Gifts attached to wills and trusts
  • In-Kind:  Physical gifts of goods, especially for day programs
  • Corporate:  Sponsorship gifts, and in-kind
  • Grants: Gifts requiring reports per use
